Leona Irene Slack

Leona Irene Slack, 87, of Mount Perry, passed away on Sunday January 30, 2022 at The Oaks at Northpointe due to complications from pneumonia. She was born on June 28, 1934 in Mount Perry, a daughter of the late Dennis and Luella (Snider) Thompson. She was the baby of five children. She married Paul H. Slack on October 24, 1959 at the White Cottage Church of the Brethren where she was a lifetime member. She formerly had worked as a cook at Newton School and Columbia Cement Commissary. She made pies for Nicol’s  Restaurant, belonged to a card club and tops club, She loved gardening, helping out at the Brethren Church and visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her husband Paul H. Slack. Her son Greg (Debbie) Slack and their children Jeremy (Kelly) Slack, Jenny (Konrod) Morris, Jessica (Nick) Stevens; her daughter Vesta (Randy) Cavinee and their children Katie (Doug) Dodson, Mollie (Bo) Lewis; her son David (Tina) Slack and his son Bendigo Slack. 17 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters Hazel Roberts, Evelyn Canter, and Frances Lincicome and by one brother Bill Thompson. A special thanks goes out to the staff of Hospice of Central Ohio and The Oaks at Northpointe. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday February 1, 2022 at William Thompson & Son Funeral Home 5765 Gladstone Drive White Cottage where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday February 2, 2022.
