Balderson Reacts to Zelenskyy’s Message

Ukraine

As Ukraine’s President Volodymr Zelenskyy addressed the US House and Senate on Wednesday, Ohio Congressman Troy Balderson watched.

He said the images of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine are heartbreaking and Russia’s President Vladmir Putin is a war criminal, in the killing of children and shooting of innocent people.

Balderson said the United States must act decisively and quickly to provide Ukraine with planes and money to help fight and assist in the humanitarian crisis.

“We are the leader of the free world and we need to act like it and make for peace. I think there is a lot we can do. We don’t need to get into a ground war with them. We don’t want to do that. The people of the 12th Congressional District don’t want to do that, but we need to focus on getting them the tools that they need to protect themselves and defend themselves from what’s happening,” said Republican Representative of the 12th Congressional District Troy Balderson.

Balderson said Russia is after the natural resources of Ukraine. The land and mines give him more power and control of energy resources used by Europe and the United States. Balderson said to end Putin’s power the U.S. must become energy independent.

“We were energy independent a year and a half ago and we need to get that independence back because we are capable of doing that,” said Balderson. “We need to cut Russia off from being able to sell their energy to Europe and also the United States for that matter but that’s what we have to stay focused on moving forward.”

Last week Congress voted to provide Ukraine with nearly $14 billion. Balderson said only $800 million has been released to Ukraine so far.
