Maysville Baseball Relying on Youth

ZANESVILLE, OH-The Maysville Panthers Baseball team took the field as their squad prepares for the start of the regular season.

Head Coach Seth Brown looks to get his young team prepared for high-level baseball.

Last season, Maysville went 9-12 and graduated many key players on their roster. Now, they only have a handful of players on the team with varsity experience.

The team says they’ve put in the work in the offseason, now they are taking things slow as Coach Brown wants his team to take their time learning the basics and fundamentals before their games start.

“We’ve been doing a lot more fundamental breakdowns just trying to get back to the basics a little bit more. Some of the stuff we did last year we didn’t do as long just because we had more experience this year. We only have four or five guys that have any varsity experience, so trying to get them back to the basics and work into what we do,” said Brown.

He also added how the team is starting to adjust and that the product of their work is starting to show.

“It’s been a little bit of a challenge just because we’ve been inside so much. But now that we’re finally able to get outside, it’s starting to come to fruition a little bit,” Brown said.

The Maysville Panthers have less than two weeks before their games start.
