DUNCAN FALLS, OH- With the High School Baseball regular season just a few days away, the Philo Electrics team is looking to get ready for the season ahead.

Led by Head Coach Hunter Smith, Philo says they’re looking to build off the bright spots they had last season and carry that momentum into this spring.

Last year was the first season for the Philo coaching staff, and they say last season was a building year. They’ve felt they have created a good foundation for their program and hope to build on it this year.

“Last season was a building block for us. I feel like we got better as the season went on. But, you know it really was our first year…the staff’s first year in the program and I feel like we kind of got our base, our foundation and hoping to build on it this year,” said Smith.

The Electrics say they’ve put in the work this offseason both in the batting cages and the field, now they hope the work pays off.

“This offseason, you know, we started open cages early. We have quite a number of guys who were playing travel ball or legion ball…that guys are invested getting in the cages in the winter and over the summer getting on the field. So, I think that we have improved,” Smith added.

The Electrics open up their season on Monday at Maysville.
