ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Zanesville Jaycees sponsored this year’s Stars and Stripes on the River, an event that draws people into the downtown and gives back to the community. Jaycees Vice President Travis Reed talked about the festival and how it funds other projects the Jaycees promote throughout the year.

“A lot of the revenue today, we spent close to $16,000 on the fireworks here and because last year was good to us as well, we were able to give away $15,000 in local scholarships to local seniors,” Reed said. “And we also do a Christmas for Kids as well. All of that money just helps to go back to local kids.”

The festival at Zanes Landing Park included plenty of food vendors, live music and games.

“This is probably our biggest event of the third and fourth, that we’ve ever had. We have more bands playing, we have a big fireworks display, this is the most money we’ve ever spent on the fireworks display as well. And we also have a pretty amazing headliner in Zack Attack,” Reed said.

Fireworks will begin at 9:45 and highlights of the festival will be posted on the Zanesville Jaycees Facebook page.
