William “Bill” Lee Brown

William Lee Brown, known affectionately as “Wimla” or “Bill” by his loved ones, 77, of Nashport, Ohio, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2022 at Genesis Hospital. Bill was born April 20, 1945 in Portsmouth, Ohio, son of the late Edgar and Dolly Brown, Sr. In addition to his parents, William is also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 43 years, Marquetta Brown; five brothers, Junior, Edgar, Jr., Joe, Everett and Leroy; and nine sisters, Violet Scott, Maxine Neal, Pauline Scott, Phyllis Bertrum, Mabel Hobbs, Marie Judy, Marie Brown, Sarah Brown and Myrtle Leatherwood.
Bill leaves to cherish his memory, his step-children, Kathy (Bill) Harriman, of Zanesville, Roy Craft, of Marion, Rusty Belvins, of Portsmouth; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two adopted great-grandchildren; siblings, Charlie (Connie) Brown, Suzy Bishop, Rossetta Hobbs, all of Portsmouth, and Mary, of Mississippi; church family of House of Grace in Zanesville; and other loved ones and friends.
William worked as a groundskeeper for Shawnee State Park for many years. He was an active member of the House of Grace in Zanesville. William enjoyed his time spent visiting at the Senior Center, he never wanted to leave. He was known to his cherished grandchildren as ‘Grandpa Brown’. Bill will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.
You may call on the family Wednesday, December 28, 2022 from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m., with funeral service to follow at 7 p.m., at House of Grace, 2960 Maysville Pike, in Zanesville. Pastor Joe Dunlap officiating. Bill will be laid to rest alongside his beloved wife Friday, December 30, 2022 in Anderson Cemetery, Anderson Cemetery Rd, South Portsmouth, KY 41174, where a graveside service will be observed at 1 p.m. BURRELL FUNERAL SERVICES is serving the family.
