Mary Piecynski

Mary Margaret Piecynski, 70, of New Concord, died 2:31 AM, Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Riverside Methodist Hospital following a lingering illness. She was born Saturday, December 6, 1952, in Glen Ridge, NJ the daughter of Hugh Begley, Sr. and Margaret (Ritter) Begley. She married Charles “Tom” Piecynski on Saturday, July 31, 1982, who preceded her in death on Monday, October 15, 2012.

Mary was a devout Catholic and was a dedicated member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Mary was a lifelong educator who had a passion for teaching, especially educating her children. She was an avid reader, loved baking, sewing and taking walks on the beach. She was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother who greatly enjoyed the time she spent with her family.

Mary is survived by two sons: Tommy (Susie) Piecynski of New Concord, and Patrick (Anna) Piecynski of Lexington, KY; two daughters: Mary Clare (Matt) Miller of Florence, KY, and Ann Marie Piecynski of New Concord; seven grandchildren: Julia, Garrett, Zachary, Logan and Wade Piecynski, Birdie Piecynski and Genevieve Miller; one brother, Kevin Begley of Cincinnati and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Piecynski, who died October 15, 2012; one sister, Jane & Robert Sexton and one brother, Hugh Begley, Jr.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated 1:00 PM, Thursday, April 27, 2023, at St. Thomas Aquinas Activity Center, 144 North Fifth Street, Zanesville, with Fr. Jan C.P. Sullivan as celebrant. Mary will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Tom, on the Piecynski Family Farm in New Concord.
