The Girl Scouts of Ohio’s Heartland hosts ‘S’mores & Outdoors’

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – For National S’mores Day, the Girl Scouts of Ohio’s Heartland are hosting a ‘S’mores & Outdoors’ event to get young girls interested in the organization.
The event will take place at five different camp locations across the 30 county radius on august 10th. During the event the girls will get to make s’mores, eat good food, explore the camp grounds and gain knowledge of the the Girl Scouts and what all they have to offer.
“I would hope that the girls get a better understanding of what girl scouts are, what they do, the different skills that they build and to understand that we’re more then just cookies,” said Jillian Rine, Community Development Manager, Girl Scouts of Ohio’s Heartland Zanesville Service Center.
The camp locations will at Camp Wakatomika, Camp Ken-Jockety, Camp Molly Lauman, Camp Crooked Lane and Camp Beckoning Trails… Rine said the girls can have the opportunity to choose whichever camp they want to attend. However, the closest camp to Zanesville is Camp Wakatomika.
“It’s a great chance for girls to get the camp experience because, most of the time they don’t get that opportunity unless their already a girl scout,” said Rine.
Rine said they’re also seeking volunteers to become troop leaders. If you’re interested you can apply on their website at: www.gsoh.org.
