Update on Frazeysburg Demolition Projects

Frazyesbirg Demolition Building

ZANESVILLE, OH – A special meeting was held with the Muskingum County Commissioners and the Muskingum County Land Bank.

The meeting was to review bids on the demolition projects for several blighted buildings in Frazeysburg.

“We put this out to bid about two weeks ago,” Andy Roberts, the Executive Director of the Land Bank, said. “We have received 8 bids back with the lowest bid coming from Flecto Construction of Zanesville in the amount of $91,268.”

Roberts said the mean bid was $139,871.63 and the highest bid was $224,900.

“These are funds we had left over from the Munson School demolition,” Roberts said. “The State let us reprogram those funds so we have about $125,000. We still have to do the asbestos remediation on the buildings and then they will come down.”

Roberts said these 5 buildings have been vacant and abandoned for about 30 years. He said his team inspected the structure of the buildings and deemed there was no way to rehabilitate the properties.

The properties that will be demolished are located on the corner of Basin St and 2nd St. in Frazeysburg.
