A talk with voters on election day

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – On of the biggest elections in history, based on ad spending and early voter turnout, is finally coming to an end tonight. WHIZ visited a polling location to see how voters feel coming out of the voting booth.

William Metzger is an active voter in every election and says that he’s voted for Democrats, Republicans and a Libertarian. However, when it came to the two highest profile races in Ohio, Metzger went with the Democratic candidates. He voted for Sherrod Brown in the race for U.S. senate based on his experience and in the race for Ohio’s governor, he voted for Democrat Amy Acton.

“Because I like her and I think they discriminated against her. All this foul-mouth stuff about her that was true, then her mother. Well, if her mother’s running her down, she must not of did a very good job of raising her. That’s the way I looked at that one,” Metzger said.

Kathy Brandom-Susil is a routine voter like Metzger and voiced concerns over the rise of AI data centers in rural areas along with the rise in electric bills. When it came to who she supported in this election, she voted for the Republican candidates.

“I voted for Jon Husted (for U.S. Senator). Governor, I voted for Vivek, I love Vivek,” Brandom-Susil said. “I don’t want us to turn into a socialist country. I want a free country for my grandkids, my nieces, my nephews.”

The polls are still open until 7:30 tonight. If you’re in line when the polls close, you can stay in line to cast your vote. Make sure to bring photo ID and you can find your polling location by visiting your county’s board of elections website.
