Treehouse Coffee Shop displays graffiti artwork

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Friday, local artists unveiled their new graffiti artwork at the Treehouse Coffee Shop in downtown Zanesville.
The Zanesville Art Museum collaborated with the Treehouse to allow teenagers to paint canvas curtains that will hang over top windows in the coffee shop. Laine Snyder with the Art Museum said this is the first time that they worked together with the Treehouse.
“I think it’s a really exciting project and it’s a great way to unite downtown Zanesville with the museum on the north end,†said Snyder. “So it’s an exciting opportunity to actually install and create art for downtown Zanesville.â€
In total six teenagers worked on the graffiti art. Maggie Prest is one of the artists. She studies art at Ohio University and said this is a unique way to express her artwork.
“We wanted to express a not so common art form,†said Prest. “It is only common in urban areas. It sort of has a stigma to it and we wanted to show the community that it actually can be a nice art form.â€
