ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Muskingum County Community Foundation is excited to once again offer an educational workshop that can benefit local nonprofits.

MCCF Resource Development Officer Amy Luby discussed the purpose of the upcoming, fundraising seminar that introduces ways in which local organizations can better reinvest in their community.

“We are hosting the second year of ‘Nonprofit Central’ and that’s what we call our outreach to our nonprofit partner friends here in Muskingum County,” Luby said. “So one way that we come alongside them is through professional development and providing them with some resources that they may need to strengthen their capacity to be able to serve more folks, whatever that looks like. So we do that through ‘Nonprofit Central.’”

‘Nonprofit Central’ is a virtual workshop series presented through Zoom that consists of three, 1-hour sessions that will run 9 a.m. on Tuesdays, February 13, 20th and 27th.

Luby noted that last year’s sessions covered a variety of subjects but feedback from attendees showed they wanted more information pertaining to issues around fundraising.

“The first sessions will really start with the fundamentals around fundraising, that foundation around a fundraising model and help our participants get a plan together,” Luby said. “The second session’s going to focus on breaking down that donor pyramid. Which is a term that fundraising and fundraisers use sometimes to just illustrate the different levels of giving. And then the third session is going to be how do you make the ask. How do you follow through and make a compelling ask for folks to help contribute.”

Registration is required to access and participate in the series and can be completed online at mccf.org.

Luby added that the community can benefit by having stronger nonprofits with leadership that has been supported and trained through professional development.
