Morgan County Fair: Summer Heat

It has been a cooler than normal summer for the Zanesville area through the June, July and August months.

The recent rise of heat and humidity has left many area residents wondering just when relief will be on the way. We visited the Morgan county fair Friday afternoon, and many people feel that the sticky weather is poor timing for the festivities. Linda Drake came to visit the fair and explained the weather isn’t ideal.

"It’s pretty bad for September. Much more pleasant for the fair if it would be about 20 degrees cooler. "

Though it may be hot and sticky out there, the good news is, the heat is avoidable. Plenty of people were seen taking advantages of cold drinks and ice cream on the fairgrounds this afternoon. Other visitors have their own suggestions on how to stay cool in this weather. Drake said, "Drink cold beverages like iced tea or water."

While visitor Sarah Hager said finding shade was the way to go, "If you can get shade its actually not too bad and a decent breeze."

Staying hydrated and finding a cool spot to sit in always helps one to avoid heat related illnesses. We have only topped the 90 degree mark once this summer in Zanesville but the humidity has made it feel like 90 more often than not. The good news is, relief is on the way.
