State Patrol: Sobriety Checkpoint This Week

The Zanesville Post of the Highway Patrol announced Monday that a sobriety checkpoint will take place this week.

Lieutenant Matt Boyd says the event is funded by federal grants and is planned to deter and intercept impaired drivers. State troopers make an average of 25,000 drunken driving arrests each year to combat the problem.

The day and the location of the checkpoint will be announced later this week. Area law enforcement agencies will be providing support for the sobriety checkpoint.
