From Star Wars to World of Warcraft: Southeastern Ohio Symphony’s ‘Space’ Concert

NEW CONCORD, OH- The Southeastern Ohio Symphony will present their final concert of the season on April 21 at 7 p.m. in Brown Chapel on the campus of Muskingum University.
The idea for the concert theme came from music director Laura Schumann who thought this was the perfect time with the recent passing of the solar eclipse.
“We have a great mix, we have Muskingum University students, we have Muskingum University faculty, we are a partnership in fact with Muskingum, and we also have high school apprentice students that come from John Glenn, from Philo, great high school students that come in and apprentice with us and play along with us, we also have local community professionals, as well as regional professionals that come in and kind of fill any gaps that we don’t have local folks filling,” Schumann said.
The concert titled “Space: The Musical Frontier” will feature your favorite space themes including World of Warcraft, Star Wars Medley, Star Wars: Phantom Menace, Star Trek and Apollo 13.
“The symphony orchestra is made up of like the coolest blend of instruments that you can see, we have brass instruments, trumpets, trombones, tuba, we have all kinds of percussion from bass drum to drum set to tympany to chimes, to jus everything you can imagine to play all of this music, as well as we have woodwinds, bassoons, clarinets, oboe, flutes and all the strings, violin, violas, cellos, basses, so we’ve got everybody plus keyboard,” Schumann said.
