Campus Renovations are Finally Complete

A five year project has finally been completed.

The Mid-East Career and Technology Center held a ribbon-cutting dedication for the Zanesville campus upon the completion of the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission project. The project began in may of 2009 when voters in surrounding counties passed an improvement levy to renovate both the Buffalo and Zanesville campuses. Mid-East Career and Technology Centers Superintendent, Thomas Perkins said,

"Well, several of the labs were all redone, updated to meet today’s industry standards. As well as the commons in which we are standing in today, we’ve added some classrooms and a media center as well as additional offices."

The total project cost roughly 50 million dollars for both the Zanesville and Buffalo campuses. Mid-East Career and Technology Centers Superintendent Thomas Perkins says the facilities were designed to meet the expectations for 21st century learning spaces.

"Well, I think that if you walk into the labs now, you’d feel like you were walking into the industry that you would go out into today. For instance, our dental lab simulates a dental lab that you would walk into as a patient going out into the community as well as our welding, our pipeline welding that we’re starting to work on as well."

The new renovations will benefit students and faculty members for many years to come.
