Darrell “Hip” Uppole, aged 71, passed away peacefully at 8:20 P.M. on Sunday, May 5, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at The James Cancer Hospital, after bravely battling Leukemia for five months.
Born on September 1, 1952, in Barnesville, Ohio, Darrell was the cherished son of John Vearl Uppole and Thelma Stephen Uppole.
Throughout his life, Darrell held various roles, leaving an indelible mark wherever he went. He dedicated many years of service at United Technologies, later venturing into entrepreneurship by establishing the Muskie Driving School. He culminated his professional journey as a dedicated bus driver for East Muskingum Schools. Darrell was not only a Black Belt in Karate with the Coszacks Karate Club but also an active member of the Eagles and American Legion. His passion for motorcycles led him to become a Motorcycle Instructor with Motorcycle Ohio and to contribute his expertise to the Mid Ohio race course. A fervent advocate for motorcycle safety, Darrell tirelessly promoted the mantra, “Watch for Motorcycles – Look Twice, Save a Life.” Above all, Darrell was a natural educator, finding joy in imparting his wisdom to others.
Darrell is survived by his beloved partner, Wendy Ball, and his children: Brooklynne “Brook” (Keith) Workman, John Uppole, Danielle “Dani” (Mason) Hardwick, and Keegan Ball. He leaves behind a legacy of love and wisdom for his grandchildren: Addilynne Workman, Annsleigh Workman, Jackson Workman, Maxton Hardwick, and Maeleigh Hardwick. He is also survived by his pet dog, Gunny. Darrell was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM with funeral service to follow at 1:00 PM on Friday, May 10, 2024 at the Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home. Burial will conclude at the St. Paul Cemetery.
