New Changes To Area 2-1-1 Service

The United Way of Muskingum, Perry and Morgan counties is changing some things about their 2-1-1 call service.

The 24-7 phone line has been around since 2009 and gives local residents access to vital resources. The new changes include the dedication of a specialist who deals with hunger and food scarcity issues, as well as partnering with Pathways, the Licking County 2-1-1, and a web portal to access resources online. Executive Director Meg Deedrick talks about how the changes came to be.

"We’ve been trending that 25% to 40% are for hunger or for food scarcity issues alone. So we realized that in order to continue to be effective, and to continue to be efficient, to operate within our means, we had to make some changes that we could continue and actually meet this increasing need in the community."

"Anybody in our three county region can dial 2-1-1 and they can get access to this information. Now with these changes and with us using different software, they can also access it online through the United Way website."

The call center typically fields 11 hundred calls a month. To access the new online version of this service, you can visit the website on your screen. Just click the 2-1-1 portal on the home page: www.unitedwayofmpm.org
