Gabriel Weatherspoon

Gabriel Raleigh Weatherspoon Jr., 65, went Home to his Lord June 8, 2024. Gabe was born February 28, 1959, to the late Gabriel R. Weatherspoon Sr. and Evelyn (Croston) Weatherspoon. Gabe graduated from Maysville Schools and attended on scholarship the Columbus College of Art and Design. Gabe worked for AEP as a lineman for 20 years. He was a Power Line Instructor at Mid-East Career and Technology Center for 6 years. He also worked as a facilitator for Thompkins Child and Adolescent Services as well as Drug and Alcohol addiction and Domestic Violence. Gabe enjoyed his semi-retirement as a Maysville Bus Driver for 15 years.
Gabe was a member of the Union Baptist Church. He enjoyed bicycling thousands of miles throughout his adult years. Gabe became a self-taught musician, playing his Saxophone and Harmonicas all over Zanesville. Gabe was a gifted Artist and enjoyed painting many special tributes for loved ones as gifts from the heart. He has been honored to have had several original art works shown as permanent pieces in local establishments throughout our community.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy (Dean) Weatherspoon. Children, Daniella Moore, Tonya Moore, Gabriel Weatherspoon III, Matthew (Tiffany) Weatherspoon, Clayton (Kelsi) Bateson, Courtney (Kalib) Davis. 14 Grandchildren, 2 of which he raised as his own, Kayla and Shawn Moore and 4 Great Grandchildren. A sister Carmen Rogers, brothers Aaron and Jonathan (Stephanie) Weatherspoon. A special Nephew T.J.
(Theresa) Anderson. Mother in-law Carolyn Dean and numerous loved ones (brother in-laws, sister in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins, along with many special friends).
He was preceded in death by his first wife Debra Weatherspoon of 36 years, Father Gabriel Weatherspoon Sr., Grandson Malakai Currey, Father in-law and Mother in-law Bernard and Goldie Moore, Father in-law Alvin Dean and granddaughter Gracie Bateson. Also, special cousins, Kevin & James Jones.
Gabe suggested, if desired, Memorial Contributions may be made in his name to The Nelson T. Gant Foundation (Gant House) 1845 W. Main St., Zanesville.
Per Gabe’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. A Memorial Service of Celebration may be held at a later date. BURRELL FUNERAL SERVICES is serving the family.
