Earth to Art

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The 9th Annual ‘Earth to Arts’ silent auction benefit happened Saturday.

The annual event took place on the front lawn of the John McIntire Library as a collaboration between the library system and the Muskingum County Master Gardeners.

“We use this event to earn money for our school grants program. Where we give area schools grant funds to help teach children about horticultural,” said Karen Lee
2016 ‘Earth to Art’ Chair. “We give I believe $100 per grant to area schools. Teacher can sign up for it and we also provide mentors for those teachers to help make sure the children are learning the right things about horticultural.”

Lee said their overall goal is to educate children and adults the importance of horticultural. She said the Muskingum County Master Gardeners wouldn’t be able to do what they love if it wasn’t for the support they receive from the community.

“The public support means everything because, without the public support there are no funds for us to do what we like to do,” said Lee.

Proceeds raised from the event will provide grants to area educators in Muskingum County to fund classroom projects that serve horticultural purposes.
