25th Annual Zanesville Handbell Festival
The holiday festivities continued Sunday, November 23rd, with the 25th Annual Zanesville Handbell Festival.
The sweet sound of handbells filled the chapel of Grace United Methodist Church Sunday evening, hundreds of people from around the city gathered to enjoy the cheerful holiday concert.
The concert was sponsored by the Zanesville Thursday Music Club which has been in existence for 105 years. Each year the handbell choirs perform popular hyms– along with one original piece that is composed specifically for the handbell festival.
"Yes, it’s a little different then the shopping emphasis and stuff like that, it’s also a very relaxed kind of music, a lot of people know words to a lot of the hyms that are sung," said Grace United Methodist Pator Steve McGuire. "Some people like the bell style that’s been going on in Muskingum county for many years and so it’s just a great thing that’s hosted here at Grace Church every year."
The Thursday Music Club aims to promote the educational and cultural standard of musical art in the community.
