Meet Bubba! This Week’s Animal Shelter Society Pet of the Week

ZANESVILL,E OH – This Week’s Pet of the Week is stealing hearts at the Animal Shelter Society.

Meet Bubba! He is a 3-year-old domestic longhair cat who’s up to date on his vaccines, neutered, and ready for his forever home.

April Gibson, the Executive Director of the Animal Shelter Society, says Bubba is cat selective so a meet and greet is a must if you have another cat in the home. She says one of the things they will look for in potential adopters is for a dedicated groomer for Bubba.

“Of course you do have to have a veterinarian but we’re also going to make sure that you’re able to make sure there is grooming,” Gibson said. “You’re going to be educated on grooming because this long hair, this kitty can definitely not be outside right now, it’d be so hot. There’s some areas you want to keep trimmed for obvious reasons, so it doesn’t hurt them and maintains their health.”

Gibson said they have had an amazing week at the Animal Shelter. The Nestle-Purina Petcare Company had over 40 employees volunteer to work on 4 major projects at the Shelter over a period of 2 days.

Gibson said it was great to have some community partners come together for a pawsitive impact.

“The really cool thing was they just didn’t do these service projects that we really can’t afford as a 100% non-profit to do, we were able to educate them,” Gibson said. “Anytime we get a chance to educate on what we do, why we do it, how we do it, and the fact that we’re 100% non-profit, adopt and no-kill shelter, you know we take advantage of that.”
