Zanesville Post Trooper of the Year

The Zanesville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol has announced its trooper of the year.

Trooper Sam Hendricks received the award this year. He came to the Zanesville post just a year ago. This is the first time he’s been selected at the post. However, he has gotten this award at other posts, but he said it’s still a humbling experience for him.

"I just go out and do my job everyday, work hard, trying to give an honest days work for an honest days pay," Hendricks said. "I’m just out here everyday to try to contribute to a safer Ohio."

Lieutenant Matt Boyd said Hendricks was chosen for the award because of his dedication to the job. Boyd added that Hendricks always volunteers to help other troopers with their daily duties when he has the time.

"Everyone agreed that the reason they had selected trooper Hendricks is because he’s just a really good trooper," Boyd said. "He’s all around a good person. He’s always enthusiastic, energetic when he comes to work. He’s always willing to help people."

Trooper Hendricks did not receive the district award this year, but he has received it in the past when he worked at the Circleville post.
