SOUPer Bowl raises money for local organizations
The figures are out. The annual SOUPer Bowl raised over $13,000 for local charitable organizations.
Fellowship of Christ’s Community, Christ’s Table, Muskingum County Center for Seniors, Eastside Community Ministries and the Salvation Army all received $2,640. Co-Chair Mary Burkhart said the funds will help provide for thousands of meals for Christ’s Table.
"I think the best way to describe this is this translates into 10,000 meals for Christ’s Table, so I think that pretty well sums it up when you stop and think how many people you can feed, and how many you can provide" for, Burkhart said.
She continued to say that it is remarkable to be able to provide that many meals. The $2,640 is a record year for the SOUPer Bowl. With that Burkhart said plans are already underway for next year’s event.
"Already in process for next year," Burkhart said. "The date’s already set, and we have a couple new co-chairs that are going to be taking over next year. But I’m sure Keely and I are going to be there. I’ll be there working the food line like i usually am."
Burkhart said it’s wonderful to see such a wide range of support.
