Jaycee’s Club Holds Christmas For Kids

The Jaycee’s Club held their annual Christmas For Kids Tuesday evening.

This marks the 20th year of the event now, and gifts were given to children in need and their family members. Mike Fulmer, President of the Jaycee’s Club, explains how the night of giving comes together.

"What we do, every September we hold a golf outing at the Jaycee’s Golf Course to raise money for this event. Each member is paired up with a child. The member and the spouse take the child Christmas shopping. We buy gifts for each one of their immediate family members and then we all meet up here at the club room. We help them wrap gifts. Pizza, pop and then Santa showed up tonight and was able to give each of the children a gift."

All of the little ones walked away with a brand new scooter this evening. 18 children and an estimated 100 family members were given gifts this year. Fulmer told us what it takes to put on an event like this each year.

"A lot of patience. It’s a small space, a lot of people in that space. But basically we partner up with Walmart and we take all the kids up there to do all the shopping. That way its all in one place, we’re not running around town trying to get gifts everywhere and then dominoes helps us out with the pizza and just all the Jaycee’s members donating their time and helping out the community."

Fulmer says for the Jaycee’s club, it’s simply all about giving back. If you are under the age of 40 and are interested in joining the Jaycee’s club, you are encouraged to attend an upcoming meeting to learn more.
