2015 Budget Plans
2015 budget plans were discussed at City Hall this afternoon.
Representatives from the Zanesville City Council discussed budget plans for the 2015 calendar year with several Zanesville City departments. Police Chief Kenneth Miller from the Zanesville Police Department says their 2015 budget will cover all employee salaries, basic operations and the purchasing of their cruisers.
"We traditionally have bought three cruisers each year, so we have to make sure we have the money to buy the cruisers and equip the cruisers. Then, also in the jail we’re doing some updating into the camera systems and recording systems that are over there."
We also spoke with the Zanesville Fire Chief, Kevin Thomas, who said, luckily, their 2015 budget is almost the same as last year.
"We pay for equipment testing, we have a lot of equipment testing, costs for fire equipment, the fire pumps had to be tested every year, the ladders have to be tested every year. The regulators on the air packs and those kinds of things. So we have, we have those kind of costs and fortunately they really aren’t projected to increase much, so we can keep the budget pretty much the same as what it was."
The council must first approve each budget before the money is distributed to any city department.
