Christmas Distribution Day

The Salvation Army made many Christmas wishes come true today.

Today was their annual christmas distribution day where employees and volunteers handed out christmas gifts and food boxes to families all over muskingum county. The salvation army has been preparing for this day since early october. Ministry assistant Dustin Redmond says they owe a huge thanks to the community.

"I want to give thanks to number one, the community of Zanesville for all their support and the donations of the toys and the food, I also want to give thanks to United Way and Christ Table for their donations and their help and support through this who thing as well. Because without the support of the organizations and United Way, we wouldn’t be able to do this."

Redmond says there were over 60 angels from their angel tree that were unaccounted for, but those families will be able to shop from their toy room. Redmond says this is a great way to remind people about the real meaning of Christmas.

"I believe that we often forget to put Christ in Christmas, and a lot of people don’t realize that when you look at the salvation army, we look at everything that the salvation army does, but our main priority is bringing people to Christ and I believe that this shows Christ in us when we’re giving these toys out to the children and we see their smiles on their face."

About 800 families were able to come through the salvation army today to collect their gifts and food.
