Susan “Susie” Shannon

Susan “Susie” R. Shannon, 82 of Zanesville, died 6:06 AM, Wednesday, June 26, 202, at the Oaks at Northpointe in Zanesville. She was born Monday, September 22, 1941, in Newark, the daughter of Bela M. Rada and Katherine L. (White) Rada. She was married on Saturday, August 19, 1978, to Paul F. Shannon for 39 years, who preceded her in death on Friday, March 30, 2018.
Throughout Susie’s career since 1956, she held a variety of employment positions and enjoyed each of them. She worked at Ohio Power, Park National Bank, Orr Chiropractic and McCollister Real Estate. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Newark, and Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Zanesville, where she was a very active member. Susie was a member of the Thursday Music Club, the Green Thumb Garden Club, and a past member and officer of the Gahanna Garden Club. She was a teacher’s aide at Westview School and John McIntire Library, and a regular volunteer at Christ’s Table. Susie could always be found serving various causes and groups whenever needed.
Susie is survived by her much loved sister-in-law, Judy Rada; nephew, Chris Rada, niece, Robin Archer great nieces, Catey (Jeff) Munyan, and Ashley (Kyle) Bryan; step daughters, Karen (Jim) Dellner, Christine (C.R.) Litts, and Kathy(Roger) McClain; her grandchildren: Greg (Jess) Dellner, Gretchen (Bart) Sides, Shannon (Matt) Caudill, Meghan (Tom) Fairall, Drew (Kelsey) McClain, Abby (Ryan) Scinta, Matt (Maddie) McClain; 13 Great grandchildren and 4 great nieces and one great nephews
In addition to her parents, Susie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul Shannon and one brother, Bill Rada.
The family would like to offer special thanks to all her “Earth Angels” at the Oaks and Shriver’s Hospice.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 127 South 7th Street, Zanesville, with Reverend Pastor Andrew Wilson officiating. Susie will be entombed beside her beloved husband, Paul, in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Chapel of the Trees, Newark, in a private committal service at a later date.
