Thinner Winner Challenge

The Muskingum Recreation Center is introducing a new way to help people reach their new years resolutions.

From January 11th until March 6th the Muskingum Recreation Center is hosting their first ever "Thinner Winner Challenge." each team will consist of 4 to 6 participants and there must be at least one person who is non-member, the team that loses the greatest percent of body weight on average will receive one thousand dollars. Health and special populations coordinator, Brooke Smith, says all participants will receive a temporary platinum membership.

"Participants of the program receive a platinum status to their membership and that includes everything that the facility has to offer. So, they have access to the fitness floor, they have access to the gymnasium, to all the group exercise classes. Platinum means they can take any group exercise class that they wish for the length of the program."

To help participants reach their goal weights, the recreation center will provide them with exercise and dieting tips.

"The exercise staff has some things lined up, the teams will get weekly emails with healthy tips for healthy eating, they’ll get some exercise tips and we’re also going to unveil our first ever Youtube videos that people can do at the home or at the gym."
