Gary Rupe

Gary W. Rupe, age 76, passed away peacefully at his residence in Roseville, Ohio, on July 13, 2024 surrounded by his loving family . Born on January 31, 1948, in Zanesville, Ohio, Gary’s life was one filled with love, wisdom, and courage from start to finish. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. Gary’s journey began as the son of the late Wade and Rosa (Ewing) Rupe. He grew up surrounded by a loving family, including his sisters Margie (Robert) Wiseman, Barb (Fred) Ferguson, Paula (Mark) Dusenberry, and Karen (Bud) Wiggins, and was preceded in death by his siblings Rebecca King, David Randall Rupe, and Raymond Earl Rupe. On August 29, 1964, Gary’s life was forever changed when he married his soulmate, Sue (Walker) Rupe. Their unwavering bond was the foundation of a beautiful family, including daughters Lori (Dave) Dalrymple, Lisa (David), and Gara “Susie” Rupe. Gary’s pride and joy were his grandchildren Connor (Mariah), Hunter, Mia (Andrew), Cobe (Sophia), and Kale, as well as his great-grandchildren Harper, Tucker, Lucas, Lydia, Lorenzo, Jaxxon, and Koe, with a great-grandson on the way. His life was also enriched by a special nephew, Jimmie Ball, who held a special place within his heart. Gary’s work ethic was evident throughout his career as a truck driver, from which he retired after many years of dedicated service at Mattingly Foods. His colleagues knew him as a man of integrity and reliability, traits that he carried into every aspect of his life. An avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns, Gary’s enthusiasm for sports was infectious. He could often be found in the stands, cheering on his grandchildren at their various activities and sporting events or admiring his most prized possession, a 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 428 Cobra Jet. His love for the outdoors was reflected in his hobbies, which included playing golf and meticulously mowing his lawn. Gary also served as the special caretaker of the family pool, affectionately known as “Sue’s Pool Guy,” where he created countless memories with his loved ones & friends alike. Gary’s presence was a source of stability and warmth. He was known to be wise by those who sought his counsel, loving by his family who adored him, and courageous by all who witnessed his approach to life’s challenges . Gary’s life will be celebrated in a manner that honors the joy and love he brought into this world. Family and Friends may pay their respects Wednesday July 17, 2024 from 1:00pm – 5:00pm at Ross-Frash Funeral Home, 207 Burley Street, Crooksville.
