In memory of Janet Rivera, her family hosted a fundraiser to support Hospice of Central Ohio, who helped them during her last days.

Hospice of Central Ohio is a community-based nonprofit organization and like most hospice programs they are completely dependent on donations. That’s why the family decided to team up with the community to hold this benefit.

“We’re doing an benefit for the Hospice of Central Ohio. My mom was a patient there, thank god for them. They took really good care of her and set everything up at home, when she wanted to come home. They gave us a bed, oxygen, everything that we needed. They sent the nurses in to make sure she was okay. I was just happy with them and I wanted to do something to give back to them,” said Carlos Rivera, son of Janet Rivera and Fundraiser Organizer.

Janet Rivera’s Caregiver, Cody Moody told us it was a pleasure working with Janet during her last days. Moody said he experience first hand what it means to have a loved one at Hospice of Central Ohio because, his grandparents were also patients there in 2012.

“This could be your situation your family member, your best friend, it could be anybody, even yourself that may need these people one day,” Cody Moody, Caregiver, Hospice of Central Ohio.

The event featured a $5 spaghetti dinner in addition to a raffle drawing and a Chinese Auction.
