MCLS + Taylor Swift = Fun

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Information in the 21st century comes in many forms and the Muskingum County Library System finds ways to make it all current and fun.

MCLS Youth Services Manager Haley Shaw shared how an upcoming event aims to connect people with information through the sharing of their pop-culture interests.

“We are going to be having a Taylor Swift party here at the library,” Shaw said. “We wanted to try to give Swifties an opportunity to get together here in Muskingum County. Hang out, share their love of Taylor’s music and make friendship bracelets and connect with each other. And so we wanted to pull this together, the community surrounding Taylor Swift and her fanbase has really grown over the last few years.”

Swift, known for her music, has also created a pop-culture phenomenon with her easy to make friendship bracelets. And Swift inspired gatherings have proved to be a hit across the country.

“We’re encouraging people to wear costumes. If you want to dress up in your best ‘Era’s Tour’ look, feel free,” Shaw said. “We’re going to have trivia, we’re going to do karaoke, we’re going to have a dance party, we’re going to have all kinds of supplies to make friendship bracelets, we’ll have a photo booth and we’re also going to do a bunch of prizes through the trivia contest as well as some door prize drawings. We’ve got books about Taylor Swift, we’ve got some of her albums, we’ve got some cute little merch things like tote bags and stuff like that.”

All ages are welcome to attend the Taylor Swift Tuesday event and pre registration is requested. The shindig will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, August 6th, at the John McIntire Library, located at the corner of Fifth and Shinnick Streets in Zanesville.
