Connie R. (Thomas) Murray, 86 of Crooksville, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2024, at her residence, in Crooksville, Ohio surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 13, 1938, in the small town of Misco, Morgan County, she was a daughter of the late Stewart and Lucy (Lanning) Thomas. Connie’s early years in Misco laid the foundation for a life characterized by hard work and commitment. She was a proud Crooksville High School graduate which allowed her to further her hopes and dreams into her professional life, working diligently as a weight master and bookkeeper for the family-run DC Thomas Coal Company. Connie advanced her career by contributing her labor to Hull Pottery for 5 years, showcasing her versatility and work ethic. Her dedication to her work was further demonstrated in her long-standing career as an x-ray technician for TRW/PCC, where she retired after 35 years of faithful service. Beyond her professional ventures, Connie was deeply involved in her local community. She was a proud member of the Crooksville-Roseville VFW Post 9090 Ladies Auxiliary. Her faith was an important aspect of her life, and she was an active member of New Hope Methodist Church. There, she shared her musical talents and passion for youth as the previous youth choir director, touching many lives with her guidance and support. Connie’s interests and hobbies reflected her vibrant spirit and love for life. She was renowned for hosting the largest 4th of July party on the river at her cabin, a tradition she joyfully upheld alongside her beloved husband, Bill. Family was the cornerstone of Connie’s life. She was a loving mother to Stewart (Marilyn) Murray of Deavertown and Renee Murray of Crooksville. Her role as a grandmother was one, she cherished deeply, imparting wisdom and creating cherished memories with her grandchildren Keeley (Joey) Brown, Billy (Angel) Murray, Brooke Parker, and Blake (Carissa) Murray. Connie’s legacy continues through her great-grandchildren Eastan, Westan, Hustan, Bostan Brown, Charlotte “Charlie” Shafer, Abigail “Abbie” and Holland “Hollie” Murray, Lily Garey, Elizabeth Kern, Carleigh Parker, Emma Parker, Parker Maxwell, Braxton Murray and Laynie Murray, who will carry her spirit and love forward. Connie’s life was marked by the love she shared with her husband of 62 years, William “Bill” Murray, who preceded her in death, along with her daughter Sherry D. Murray, her sisters Marlene Anderson and Linda Miller. Calling hours will be held Friday August 2, 2024, from 4pm -7pm at Ross-Frash Funeral Home, 207 Burley Street, Crooksville, where funeral services will be held Saturday August 3, 2024, at 11am with Pastor Peggy Watts officiating. Friends and family are also welcome to pay their respects beginning at 10am prior to the start of the service. Burial will continue in Iliff Cemetery next to her husband, Bill.
