Snow Update From ODOT

More than 100 snowplows took to the streets Sunday night to battle freezing rain in our area.

The Ohio Department of Transportation said crews used salt mixed with calcium chloride to treat the highways and bridges. ODOT said salt that has been treated with calcium is more effective at melting ice than salt alone. In fact the mixture is effective up to -25 degrees.

Although much of the ice has been melted away in most areas, 85 plow trucks are still monitoring the roads in Southeast Ohio, focusing on bridges, overpasses and hilly areas.
