Indoor Triathlon

The Muskingum Recreation Center is looking for beginner and experienced athletes.

On Sunday, February 1, it will be hosting an indoor triathlon. It’s open to members for $35 and non-members for $45 which includes a t-shirt, a water bottle and a swim cap. The first heat starts at 8 o’clock in the morning and heats will start every 30 minutes thereafter.

“We will start with a 10 minute swim, and then participants will have 12 minutes to change their clothes, get dried off and get ready for the next leg which is a 20 minute bike ride on a stationary bike. Then, they’ll have 5 minutes to go up to the fitness floor where they’ll do a 20 minute run on a treadmill.”

Aquatic and Sport Manager Susan Bowen says she encourages anybody who is even remotely interested in doing the triathlon to come out and try it.

“Well, triathlons are gaining popularity, it’s a very popular sport right now. So, I’m hoping that we’ll get some experienced tri-athletes that are just looking for something different to do, and then we’ll also get some beginners who aren’t sure if they want to do a traditional triathlon and this might be a good starting point for them.”

To register for the event you can visit their website at muskingumrecreationcetner.org or stop in and ask for Susan Bowen or Kenzie Brunie.
