24th Annual City-Wide Singspiration Honoring Martin Luther King, Jr.

While Martin Luther King Junior Day isn’t until Monday, many people gathered Sunday in the John McIntire Library Auditorium for the Twenty-Fourth Annual City Wide Singspiration honoring Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The program included welcome and prayer from various local pastors, and musical selections from combined choirs of the City-Wide Singspiration. However, the highlight of the event was guest speaker Reverend Ernest H. Dandridge. A lifelong resident of Columbus and Pastor of the Union Baptist Church of Zanesville, Ohio. Dandridged spoke about the life of King and the importance of fairness and equality. Sunday’s event was just a kick off to the MLK celebration, Monday you can attend the 21st annual Martin Luther King, Jr., Scholarship Prayer Breakfast at the North Terrace Church of Christ at 9:00 a.m. and at 11:45 a.m. there will be a special viewing of the movie Selma at Cinemark Theater at Colony Square Mall.
