Meet Dawn And Barney Fife

The temperatures are falling outside which means you might need a new furry friend to keep you warm.

The Animal Shelter Society hosted an adoption event earlier today at the Pet Smart on Maple Avenue. Dawn, a 5-year-old Labrador and Barney Fife a 4-year-old Beagle mix were the star attractions.

“We’re here with a couple of dogs from the shelter,” said volunteer, Carol Wilson. “Hoping that a couple people that come in might adopt a dog here, or go to the shelter and adopt some of the dogs there that are available for adoption.”

Dawn and Barney Fife are both happy, healthy, people friendly dogs who, according to Wilson, have been at the shelter for far to long.

“There’s so many dogs out there without homes,” said Wilson. “People have been abandoning them when they move, and these guys just need a chance. Somebody to take them home and give them some love.”

To see if Dawn and Barney Fife are still available for adoption you can visit the Animal Shelter on Newark Road Monday, from 10:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Remember adopting a pet is making the commitment to provide a safe and loving home for your new friend.
