Clarence Darrow At The Renner Theater
Bruce Revennaugh is Clarence Darrow in a one-man play currently showing at Renner Theater.
Clarence Darrow was the most famous and controversial defense attorney of the early twentieth century. The show is a timeline of his life highlighting some of his most momentous courtroom battles, and showcasing his life outside the courtroom.
“The biggest thing he really pushed for was the banishment of the death penalty,” said Revennaugh. “In his career he defended 102 men who were in threat of being hung. Because at that point of time that was the standard procedure for death, was being hanged. He got them all off, they went to jail because of their crimes sometimes, but none of them were hanged.”
According to Revennaugh, Clarence Darrow is a great show for anyone interested in history.
“It’s one of those shows where you just have to pay attention because the way it’s written there’s a tremendous amount of information given to the audience,” stated Revennaugh.
If you missed this weekend’s showings of Clarence Darrow don’t worry, you haven’t missed out. The show will run next weekend as well. To reserve a seat you can contact the Renner Theater at (740) 453-8481.
