7th Annual Muskingum Christian Athlete Leadership Awards Breakfast
Bacon, eggs and a former NBA basketball player are the ingredients for a successful athletic awards breakfast.
The 7th annual Muskingum Christian Athlete Leadership Awards breakfast took place Saturday morning at Coburn United Methodist Church. Several athletes from local high schools were honored for their outstanding athletic, scholastic, and community efforts.
“This years cast is great, it’s one of the tops that we’ve had,” said MCALA Committee Chair, Chris Channels. “We’re really looking forward to being able to recognize them as being impactful here in the community as well as our schools.”
Each year the MCALA invites one special person to the award ceremony as a keynote speaker. Jerry Lucas was this year’s speaker.
“Mr. Lucas he’s a former Ohio State and NBA basketball great, as well as an Olympic gold medalist,” said Channels. “It’s been a great joy to have him here today and share with everybody due to all of his previous accomplishments.”
Lucas is also known as Doctor Memory and will be sharing memory strengthening techniques at the church for the next three days.
