Deadline To Run In May Primary Is This Week
If you are interested in running in the may primary, the deadline to file is fast approaching.
You need to have all of your petitions filed by this Wednesday the 4th at 4PM. We spoke to Chris Hamill, Director of the Muskingum County Board of Elections who told us what you’ll need.
“If they decide to run for an office, one of the city offices, then they’ll need to come in and pick up a petition, have that petition circulated and then bring it back to our office.”
The office hours are from 8AM to 4PM, Monday through Friday. Hamil says board members will certify all races and issues February 11th. Hamill also told us a little bit more about signatures needed on your petition.
“Some of them are 50 and some are 25. Everything actually is 50 signatures except for the ward. Anybody running in a ward, it would be 25 signatures.”
The upcoming election is on May 5th. If you are not yet registered to vote, you are encouraged to do so at the Muskingum County Board of Elections office.
