ZMCHD Holds Annual Health District Advisory Council Meeting
The Zanesville Muskingum County Health Department turned out in snowy weather Wednesday evening for their annual Health District Advisory Council Meeting.
According to Health Commissioner, Corey Hamilton, the required meeting is held every march because of the Ohio Revised Code. Hamilton told us the purpose behind the discussion.
"The reason that we meet with them is two fold. First we give them an update on their 2014 annual report and the activities of the Health Department. We also asked them for feedback on what they’re seeing out in their communities or health needs or something that the Health Department could assist them with and then they also appoint members to our Board of Health."
The Health District Advisory Council is made up of Village and City Mayors, Township Trustees as well as County Commissioners. Hamilton told us they find the yearly meetings helpful.
"It’s always a good idea to pull your information together from what you’ve achieved over the past year and present that to the bodies that help you do your work in the community."
According to Hamilton, some of the information highlighted at Wednesday evenings meeting included infectious disease numbers, preparing for public health accreditation, food service inspections and immunizations.
