Dodging Cancer For Erica
Dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge. That’s what Crooksville residents did Saturday, but all in honor of Erica Jones.
Erica Jones was diagnosed with brain cancer in November, 2011. The constant doctors visits and continuous MRI’s have caused some financial hardship for Erica and her family. However, friends and family are determined to do all they can to help.
“I’ve tried to do dodgeball, cancer walks we’ve done a lot because she is not employed and is unable to work. Erica is just a great friend, and I love doing it,” said the event organize, Jennifer Channel.
The 2015 dodgeball tournament is the third annual “Dodging Cancer For Erica” event. Thirteen teams registered for the double elimination tournament, and all the proceeds will go straight to the very grateful Jones family.
“This means everything to me. This happened literally overnight. I was working on a Friday and it happened on a Saturday morning, and overnight I could no longer work and everything, my whole life changed and it was just. Like I said I have three kids and my whole life changed. So like I said, without this community and without Jen and all of my friends, I don’t think they realize how much they mean to me,” stated Jones.
Erica says that she has day’s where she’s feeling up and day’s where she’s feeling down, but today impacted her greatly.
