“Stuff the Truck” at Kroger this Weekend

Christ’s table’s bi-annual “Stuff the Truck” event is this weekend.

Kroger is hosting the event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Executive Director of Christ’s Table, Keely Warden, said this event helps tremendously to stock the shelves at Christ’s Table and that Kroger has been a huge part of making this possible.

“Kroger is just a very big community partner,” said Warden. “They actually helped initiate it, and they love to have us out there. They love to help. They’re a true community partner. They do the roundup program for us, and they also do coin boxes for Christ’s Table. They truly believe in feeding the hungry.”

All of the food stuffed into the truck will head straight downtown to Christ’s Table. Employees of Smith Concrete and Shelly Materials are the ones collecting the food at Kroger Saturday. Warden said it’s heart warming when people sponsor events like this.

“It’s great when people step forward and say they want to help,” said Warden. “It doesn’t happen everyday, and when we get a group that steps forward and wants to do something for Christ’s Table it’s a huge help to us because sometimes you wonder what’s going to happen tomorrow.”

She continued on to say they always find a way to feed those who need it. She credits that to a giving community.
