Easter Egg Hunt

All throughout the city of Zanesville today, children went on the hunt for Easter eggs.

Hundreds of kids came out today for a morning filled with fun and fellowship. We hopped down the bunny trail ourselves to the North Terrace Church of Christ, and the First Baptist Church of South Zanesville to talk with them a little bit about some of the events that were going on.

“We do the Easter Egg Hunt, that’s what’s going on here today, and we have 15 to 18 thousand eggs packed with candy ready to go, and we’re about to unleash the crowd on those eggs here in just a little bit. We have bounce houses, we’ve got face painting, we got a photo booth, putt-putt. It’s gonna be a great event.” ~Matt Mehaffey, Lead Minister for the North Terrace Church of Christ

“We’ve got the eggs separated according to age groups, they’re gonna have the opportunity there, we’ve got interaction here with various games. We have snacks and refreshments, just an opportunity for the community to come together, get to know each other, and just maybe take a little bit of a breather in between all their Easter activities.” ~ Joe Seese, Pastor of the First Baptist Church

Amongst all of this fun though there is still the underlying message of Christ’s sacrifice and rebirth. Seese and Mehaffey both took some time to share that message with us.

“Easter is all about new life. New life not only because of Jesus dying on the cross for our sins, but rising from the grave.” ~Seese

“The message of Christ should bring joy, and so we think that children are really the most important people. Jesus said that we should become like a child, have faith like a child, and so we can look around, and learn a lot from the kids.” ~Mehaffey

Well there certainly were plenty of colorful eggs and smiles to be had today.

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!
