Community Gathers For Easter Egg Hunt
Eggs may have been hidden Sunday afternoon, but there was no hiding the excitement of a family and friends gathered for an Easter celebration.
The annual community egg hunt and cook out has been going on for at least 30 years now. We spoke to event organizer Violet Flickinger who told us about the event history and what goes in to putting it on each year.
“My mom and dad did it and they passed and I just kept it going….I fill every egg and everything by myself…..It usually takes 3 or 4 days. I love it!”
Over 1,200 colorful eggs dotted the lawn and peeked out of trees and bushes. Little ones gathered the eggs and each one of them left with a special prize. Flickinger told us the purpose behind it all.
“It’s all about the kids. I love kids. It’s family and kids, friends, just everything and getting together.”
Over 50 people attended Sunday’s holiday event and it only grows each year. Flickinger says she receives nothing but positive responses from those who join in the fun.
