Former Buckeyes Head to New Lexington

After a successful campaign last year, the Driven Foundation returned to New Lexington High School this weekend.

Fourteen former Ohio State football players hit the hardwood to raise money for several area charitable organizations.

“We want to raise as much as we can,” Doug Sheppard said. “The money is basically being split between the Driven Foundation, Orange and Black Boosters and my number one, my main concern of everything is the Perry County food banks or PEAP is what they go by, just to help, as much as we can raise we’ll take it.”

The event started last year after Sheppard invited former Buckeye Roy Hall to a New Lex football game to sign autographs and raise money for the Driven Foundation. Hall said that after a successful event last year, it was time for a second annual basketball game.

“It’s just about raising some money, some awareness about some great organizations,”” Hall said. “Obviously this high school and the Orange and Black Boosters but also Perry Emergency Assistance Programs or PEAP for short, but they’re doing some great things in the community, and we just want to connect, associate ourselves with their mission and use the Buckeye’s to bring awareness and raise some money for their program.”
