Center for Seniors Levy Kick-off

The Muskingum County Center for Seniors asks voters for support in the upcoming election.

The center kicked off its campaign at the Ohio University-Zane State Campus Center Monday. If passed, the point 5 mill bond issue would allow the county to build a new senior center.

“It is vital that we have a facility that we own and can be in charge of repairs and take care of on our own,” Executive Director, Ann Combs said. “We’ve rented this facility since 1998, for a long time and it’s time that we be better stewards of the taxpayer dollar, that we get our own building and be able to grow with the seniors of the next generation to come.”

Combs said the need for a new center is real after the east pike facility was closed for over a month for roof repairs. Combs said this is just one reason she is hopeful voters will support the levy.

“I hope that voters of Muskingum County will see how important this is for the seniors [they] have laid the foundation of our community, they’ve built our families, and I believe that we need to show them some respect and give them a facility that they’re going to want to come to everyday.”

Combs said the new facility will be a vast upgrade from the current center.
