Carr Center Cake Auction

Whether it be small cakes or big cakes all cakes will be at Colony Square Mall later this month.

The 29th annual Carr Center Cake Auction is coming on April 23 and 24 at the mall. But the deadline to register for the auction is April 10. Executive Director of the Carr Center, Kim Hosler explained what is so special about the event.

“It’s a wonderful visual event in that you can walk through them all and see hundreds of cakes,” Hosler said. “Some of them are small maybe presented by a girl scout troop. Some of them are large and animated and battery operated. Some are really big, some are very little. They’re very creative. It’s very colorful.

While people will leave the auction with a cake and maybe even a prize package as well, Hosler said the Carr Center will walk away with something even more valuable. She said this is the center’s primary fundraiser each year. Last year’s event raised $131,000.

“We need it very badly,” Hosler said. “We really depend upon this year after year to support the Carr Center. I have to say it’s a bit of a nail biter for us just waiting to see how it all turns out, but the community has always been very generous, and I think they believe in our mission to help kids and to help seniors.”
