Muskingum Hires Men’s Basketball Coach
Muskingum University has tabbed Travis Schwab as its next men’s basketball coach. The school made the announcement on Wednesday.
Schwab comes to New Concord following an eight-year stint at Wittenburg University, where he served as an associate head coach since 2013. The Tigers have dominated the North Coast Athletic Conference in recent years, making the NCAA tournament three times since 2011 and posting a 142-80 record since 2007.
Schwab has spent his entire coaching career in the Buckeye State. Prior to Wittenburg, he served as an assistant coach at Kenyon College (2006-07) and a graduate assistant at Heidelberg University (2004-06).
A 2004 graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University, Schwab was a forced to be reckoned with in his playing days. He is one of just two NCAC players to earn first-team all-conference honors in four consecutive seasons and tallied 1,985 career points. Following his senior season, Schwab was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches All-America Team.
Schwab is married to former Wittenberg volleyball standout Sarah Matesich. The couple has one son, Jacob.
