Cakes Delivered For Carr Center Auction
The 29th Annual Carr Center Cake Auction is only a day away and preparations are well underway.
Over 350 beautiful cake creations were delivered and put into their proper places Wednesday morning. We spoke to Kim Hosler, Executive Director of the Carr Center who told us a little bit more about where the cakes come from.
“Individuals, local bakers bake them. Honestly out of town bakers bake them as well…there’s a lot of really talented cake bakers in this community and they seem to be every where and they all kind of show up at this event.”
All of the funds raised go toward supporting the work of the center. Hosler says they are grateful for the thousands that come out each year to fund them.
“We have always had hopes to do a real successful event but we do not put any limits on what we expect. Every single thing that we get is a gift to us and it helps us to bring our programs into the community and so we dont ever frame it in any way. We are grateful and its wonderful.”
The cake auction will be going on Thursday and Friday from 8:15AM to 6:00PM at Colony Sqyare Mall. There will be a lunch break. It will also be broadcast live on AM1240 Radio. If you miss the auction and would like to donate to the Carr Center, you can do so via the new matching funds donor boards which goes strictly to scholarships.
